For all the women, at every age, the key to healthy life is the consumption of proper nutrients and regular physical exercises. However, there are certain vitamins and nutrients that are particularly important at certain ages. If you know which nutrients you need the most for a healthy lifestyle, you will make better food choices.

Consuming enough amounts of calcium is important for women of all ages. However, it becomes all the more important for the adolescent girls and elderly women. During the early years the bone development is at its peak. For the optimal growth and development of the bone, calcium plays an important role. For the elderly women, calcium is important because with age the bone density starts reducing. Although reduction of bone density cannot be stopped, with proper intake of calcium it can be significantly slowed.

Iron is perhaps the most important mineral required by the body. Unfortunately, a large number of women all over the world are iron deficient. Women of all ages require sufficient amount of iron for the production of hemoglobin and red blood cells (RBC). Especially during menstruation women tend to lose more iron. Lack of iron in the body can result in fatigue, reduced immunity, and poor performance.

Vitamin B12 is an important vitamin for the women of every age. This vitamin helps in keeping the nervous system healthy and functional. Since meat items are the rich source of vitamin B12, a lot of vegetarian women may tend to deficient in this vitamin. Whole grains and fortified cereals contain Vitamin B12.
